Signus Magnolia is a collaborative group of independent writers, editors, designers, and artists that have come together to write and publish exciting anthologies in horror, sci-fi, and experimental writing genres. Rather than act as a traditional publisher, Signus Magnolia utilizes the vast array of resources available to the independent author. Doing so gives our contributors the maximum amount of artistic and publishing freedom possible in order to create books and anthologies that appeal to a wide readership.

Our goal is to release between two and three collaborative works a year, with our members contributing the stories, the artwork, and the editorial and design expertise in order to create collections that we feel proud sharing with our audience. The spirit of mutual support is strong within our group, and this allows us to learn new skill sets and hone our craft in an environment that welcomes risk-taking. We also celebrate our writers’ accomplishments, both within Signus Magnola and elsewhere in the world of writing and publishing.

At Signus Magnolia, we believe that AI and generative AI in its current form is harmful to artists and to the spirit of artistry itself. While future iterations of this technology may become both useful and ethical, we have decided to forego its use in any of Signus Magnolia’s artistic endeavors.

We publish our books with the help of PubShare, and encourage other independent artists to consider such avenues of publication when considering their own releases. For too long, self-publishing and independent publishing have been stigmatized with the idea that its output is something “junior varsity”, something writers only do if they can’t attach themselves to a traditional publisher. Signus Magnolia is here to dispel these notions, and demonstrate that the resources available to the independent artist can result in output every bit as valid and meaningful as larger publishers.
